Period Poverty –  is a public health crisis

Binghamton, NY, May 3, 2025 – Informed NY magazine (www.informedny.com), owned by It’s Viral Media, invites the community to participate in a much needed Red Drive.
Period Poverty means being unable to afford products such as pads, tampons, or liners to manage menstrual bleeding. Statistics show that  1 in 4 teens and 1 in 3 adults struggle to afford period products. This is especially true for teens of color and lower-income households.
“We need to stop the shame associated with menstruation, and the first step is to put an end to Period Poverty. Period products like tampons, pads, and liners should not be luxury items, “ said Lisa OKeefe  That is why we created the Red Drive to support unhoused and underserved individuals in Binghamton and surrounding areas.
While the campaign was designed and produced by the two media outlets, full administration and distribution have been entrusted to Reverend Timothy Page, a passionate advocate for the homeless who once experienced homelessness himself. His journey, featured on Informed NY, underscores the critical importance of access to basic hygiene and dignity.
Running through May 24, this community drive invites individuals to visit our Target registry, where a series of different pads, tampons, wipes, and liners can be selected. All items will be delivered directly to Rev. Page, who will ensure they reach shelters and outreach centers facing urgent shortages.
“I know firsthand what it means to go without essentials like these,” said Rev. Page. “This isn’t just about hygiene, it’s about dignity. Everyone deserves to feel clean, safe, and seen.”
It’s Viral Media and Informed NY remain focused on producing and promoting meaningful public initiatives so you can do good in the world. We thank Rev Page for stepping up to be the sole person responsible for the distribution of donated goods to ensure direct, local impact.
Helping is as easy as 1-2-3:

Minium order is $35. Must select shipping!
That’s it . . .Rev. Page will take care of delivery to those in need by delivering directly to shelters and organizations that are critically low on such products
